Studies show that chiropractic care is a safe alternative for chronic pain. Especially when compared to other treatments, such as back surgery.

For those of you out there that don’t know, chiropractic is a division of healthcare that treats and prevents mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system via the nervous system. This treatment often plays out with spine problems.

The reason that chiropractic is such a great alternative is that it is drug free and surgery free. If you are suffering from back pain, or any other physical pain, make an appointment with a chiropractor franklin tn to hear about your options.

Summer is a great time to breathe fresh air and get outdoors, but the season brings special challenges for people trying to exercise.  Intense workouts and summer sports can mean sports injuries for athletes who aren’t cautious.  Sports medicine Ocean County specialists Northeast Spine and Sports offer these tips on staying safe and avoiding summer sports injuries while still making the most of the season.

1. Wear appropriate shoes. Use shoes that are designed for the activity you’ll be partaking in, whether it’s running or biking or a simple game of tennis.  Shoes that aren’t built for your preferred activity can cause undue muscle strain, foot pain, slipping and even injuries.  It’s also a good idea to purchase your shoes from an experienced athletic shoe retailer, as employees of these stores are trained to fit and recommend shoes for any purpose.

2. Wear a helmet, padding and other protective gear. Bikers, skateboarders and rollerbladers would do well to wear protective gear.  An accident while not wearing a good-fitting helmet plus wrist, knee and elbow pads can cause serious injuries.  Broken bones, skin lacerations and head trauma are not uncommon with these high-energy sports, so it’s best to play it safe.

3. Stay hydrated. Especially in hot summer temperatures, it’s important to stay well hydrated.  Drink water constantly if you’re outdoors, and remember that sweating also causes electrolyte loss- so have a sports drink if you’re feeling hazy.  Watch out for heat exhaustion or heat stroke, though – If you start to feel dizzy, nauseous, disoriented or like you’re about to faint, get inside immediately and seek medical attention.

4. If you’re in pain, stop. Burning during exercise (and soreness afterward) is normal, but if you feel pain it’s time to stop.  Remember that pain is a sign that something is wrong – you could have a minor or even serious injury.  Sit or lay down, and if the pain doesn’t immediately subside or persists when you stand, ice the affected area.  If the pain is very severe or won’t stop, see your chiropractor or pain management doctors in Ocean County NJ.

June 10, 2011 (Miami, Florida) – A leading provider of executive health and corporate health programs, concierge medical service EliteHealth has been selected by the southern division of Holman Automotive Group – one of the nation’s top auto dealership and leasing companies – to provide a Wellness Program for their managerial staff.  The move follows a successful implementation of EliteHealth’s Executive Wellness Program in 2010, which has provided concierge medical services to 15 of Holman’s southern executive management group.

More and more companies are recognizing that corporate success is dependent upon the strength of the corporation’s staff – and keeping employees healthy is the best way to improve productivity, reduce sick leave, and prevent sub-par performance while at work.  Offering employees a higher-level healthcare plan also increases employee satisfaction in the workplace and reflects upon the corporation’s positive attitude toward its staff.  By selecting programs from EliteHealth, Holman Automotive Group is demonstrating its dedication to caring for its valuable employees.

The wellness program selected by Holman Automotive Group for their managerial staff serves around 70 managers and features a range of exclusive concierge healthcare services.  Managers will enjoy an annual executive physical exam, which features CIMT cardiac testing, a heart scan, advanced lipid profiling, and chest x-ray; a thorough medical history evaluation; and nutrition counseling.  This intense focus on preventive cardiology and healthcare acts to “ensure they’re not missing any diseases,” says Dr. Perry Krichmar, M.D. and Chief Operations Officer at EliteHealth.  “Holman recognizes this because we had done this last year and it rolled so well with their executives.”  Holman’s managers will also receive priority medical appointments with their physicians as well as a personal Health Care Advocate to help them make appointments, find physicians, manage their medical records, and navigate the healthcare system.

In addition to healthcare and wellness programs for executives and managers, EliteHealth also specializes in Corporate Wellness Programs which offer comprehensive lab testing, 24/7 online access to an ER physician plus their personal medical records through EliteHealth’s patient portal myEliteHealth.com, in-home or in-room doctor visits while traveling, and personal health consultations.  Starting at under $6 per month per employee, these programs offer corporations an extremely affordable way to ensure that the entire staff is well-cared for.  Holman Automotive Group’s southern division has taken a smart step toward total employee health by offering their executives and managers care plans from EliteHealth.

As a pediatric chiropractor Franklin TN practitioner Dr. Jennifer Rousseau knows that the complications arising from a baby positioned in the breech (or “head-up” position) can be far-reaching.  A fetus is normally positioned in the womb with the head facing down, allowing the head to emerge first during birth and for the baby to breathe during the entire birth process, a baby positioned in the womb with the head facing upward is a higher-risk delivery.  Aside from oxygen deprivation, a breech baby is also at risk for umbilical cord prolapse (the umbilical cord collapsing into itself), entrapment of the head in the uterus, and injury to the brain.

There are many potential causes for a breech positioning, and c-section or close supervision by an expert medical staff during birth are often the best solutions.  However, as a chiropractor Franklin TN‘s Dr. Jennifer Rousseau is making a new wave in techniques to turn breech babies inside the womb and allow for a healthy, normal delivery.  At her practice Kyd Kyro, Dr. Rousseau has experienced a 97 percent success rate in turning breech babies to the head-down position by using the Webster Technique.  This technique invokes gentle, pleasant chiropractic massage to reposition a misaligned lower back and allow the baby space to move downward.

For more information on the Webster technique and the benefits of chiropractic care during pregnancy and for children, visit www.kydkyro.com.

For most individuals, occasional back and body pain is normal as they age.  Many develop arthritis, become injured more easily, or are simply not as limber as they were in their youth.  Some, however, will develop more serious conditions requiring a stricter treatment.

Degenerative disc disease, or DDD, is a condiiton characterized by the degeneration of the cushioning discs in between the vertebrae of the spinal column.  Many experience some degree of degeneration as they grow older, and some do not experience life-altering problems or pain.  Others find that the pain of a degenerating disc interferes with daily activities and must seek treatment.  Symptoms include:

  • Chronic or constant pain in the lower back
  • Pain in the thigh and buttock area
  • Tingling or numbness in the legs
  • Pain caused or aggravated by movement or heavy lifting

Many pain management clinics, such as Edina’s Twin Cities Pain Clinic, can successfully treat patients with degenerative disc disease MN without surgery.  Their treatment focuses on physical therapy to relieve stress and pain, and their strong focus on medication management (including intrathecal pain pump MN treatments and neurostimulator insertion) allows them to provide care and treatment while making sure that patients are not overloaded with medications.  TCPC also treats back pain, neck pain, spinal stenosis MN, fibromyalgia, and other painful conditions.  For more information, visit them online.

January 19, 2011 (Franklin, TN) – Pediatric and women’s chiropractic center KydKyro is proud to announce the launch of its new website, www.kydkyro.com.  Headed by chiropractor Dr. Jennifer Rousseau, KydKyro provides chiropractic services for children and pregnant women to help ensure healthy and comfortable delivery and childhood development.

Conveniently located in Franklin, Tennessee, KydKyro provides specialized care tailored to fit each patient’s needs.  Far from a large, “catch-all” chiropractic clinic, Dr. Rousseau enjoys serving a niche of patients with special needs.  She designs thorough treatment plans on a case-by-case basis, and she has developed a number of safe and gentle treatments that alleviate symptoms by treating the root cause of pain and discomfort.

Dr. Rousseau specializes in employing the Webster Technique to turn breeched babies into a safer position – often eliminating the need for a cesarean section and helping to ensure a safe delivery.  She has had a 97 percent success rate in un-breeching babies with the Webster Technique and has also used the technique to successfully un-breech a twin.

KydKyro also provides chiropractic adjustments, massage therapy, nutritional and weight-loss counseling, spinal and extremity rehabilitative therapy, and physical exams for children.  In addition to the Webster Technique, Dr. Rousseau employs innovative techniques like cranial adjusting, extremity adjusting, and the cranio-sacral technique to adjust alignment and relieve pressure.  Beyond therapies for back pain in kids, KydKyro provides gentle and effective chiropractic therapy to patients with neck pain, scoliosis, colic, ear infections, bed-wetting, and behavioral problems like ADHD.

As personal trainer for ten years and now a chiropractor Franklin TN’s Dr. Rousseau was inspired after working with a chiropractor who gave her answers and solutions to her back pain – rather than masking the symptoms with treatments.  She has had lupus for the past twenty years and leads a lupus support group for women struggling with the disease.  Dr. Rousseau is herself an expecting mother and understands health issues related to pregnancy.  Her compassion for her patients and the community shows in her chiropractic treatment method, and women and children who choose to explore chiropractic care at KydKyro will enjoy a unique, different, and effective approach.

Most everyone knows that a physically active lifestyle is the best way to control weight and fight obesity.  Others have heard the American Heart Association’s recommendation of thirty continuous minutes of daily, extended aerobic exercise – such as running, biking, or any other activity that increases heart rate.  This helps fight heart disease as well as other chronic age-related conditions.  But exercise has a range of benefits extending beyond weight management and heart disease – and knowing what they are may make you even more eager to work more physical activity into your day.

Regular physical exercise can:

  • Increase your energy levels by delivering more nutrients and oxygen to your body’s tissues.
  • Boost your mood by stimulating the release of endorphins and other brain chemicals.
  • Help you fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.
  • Serve as a fun, healthy outlet for stress.
  • Provide a great date or family bonding activity.

For individuals looking to exercise despite struggling with injuries or chronic back pain Minneapolis physical therapy center Twin Cities Pain Clinic provides both classic and innovative treatment techniques to improve mobility and increase exercise quality.  Headed by Dr. Andrew Will, a physical therapist Minneapolis residents and specialists recommend, the clinic is staffed by several physical therapists, nurses, and a psychologist.  Twin Cities Pain Clinic is also a clinic for physical therapy Edina residents frequent and recommend.
